2011 here we go....

Hello Sweet Ladies!

I am really looking forward to this year. Once again I am serving as the Entertainment Chair for Festival. With all the new found craziness in my life I'm sure you are all surprised. I thought of stepping down and even approached PCMC and the FOT board about it. They convinced me to stay and promised me whatever I needed to make things run more smoothly. I asked for a weekly trip to the spa, a full time nanny, a personal chef and maid. They gave me a extra board member as an assistant and I called it good. She will be doing all my data entry throughout the year as well help to run the ship the week of Festival so I should not have to be their 24/7. Her name is Heather White. Also Nannette and Trish are returning to my board again this year so you will be working with them and their committees again too. FUN, FUN!

There is not much changing this year except that our committee lost a few faces and gained some new ones. I am attaching our new Committee Roster. Please print this off and keep it handy in case you need to get in touch with someone on our committee. New on our committee is my good friend Amy Burton, My sweet old friend from high school Nikki Little, my friend Shelly Isom and her sweet daughter Kalli (who is getting married at the end of the month), and the talented Vikki Wartman who may recognized as the director of the No Sweat Dance Company.

One small change is that your information packets will now will be sent to you via email as a PDF file. I am attaching it as well. Please print it off and read the responsibilities of a committee member. This will make you informed about some of the changes and help the new members better understand what is required of them.

Every year each committee is asked to work together and contribute something for Festival that will generate a good amount of money. My sweet Sister, April Conlon, has agreed to be in charge of the project this year and has been in the beginning stages of doing a large tree. The name for the moment is " Oh, the places you'll go...in a winnabago." She is asking that we all start collecting ornaments that represent different places we have gone in the world. Please contact her if you have ideas or questions, she would love the help. Each Board Member is asked to donate at least $10 towards this product.

Our Committee Luncheon at the hospital is scheduled for Oct. 20. Please mark you calendars now. It will be at 11 am. Since this is much later then normal I would like to have a early committee project day, perhaps early Sept. I will let you know as we get closer. On this day we will only be working on the committee project. Our small fry project will be done by "KOHLS CARES". They will make a donation to any charity that gives their employees at least 100 hours of service opportunity. We are still in charge of buying the supplies and delivering it to them. This is another $10 donation per committee member.

Also, if you are planning on contributing food for the sweet shoppe please let me know. Otherwise I will need your $10 sweet shoppe donation. Remember all food must be prepared in state approved kitchens.

Other then that please start now on your gift boutique items. As you may be aware they did not have enough to stock the boutique the entire week last year so they have asked us to increase our total items. All this info is in your packet. PPPLLLEEEAAASSSEE read it!

Please plan on getting your donation money to me as soon as possible so we know what we are working with. Make checks out PCMC.

I love you all and look forward to seeing you soon. Call or email me with any question and don't forget to check on our committees festival blog and hopefully become a follower of it. I am always nervous to post their because I'm not sure you are reading it.

Love ya,
Aimee

My Great festival Friends,
The time to begin all our Festival of Trees projects is sneaking up on me so fast! For those of you who don’t know I started an international adoption at the beginning of the year. We thought we would have them home by now and it would have given us a little time to adjust before the busyness of festival began. Unfortunately, we have hit some major road bumps and we are still working on it. So where does that put festival? I am hoping you will all continue to be extremely helpful and will forgive me for changing some of our traditional things around a little.

I would like to have our project day be SATURDAY, OCTOBER 9TH! Please coem with an idea of when you want to work your two shifts so you can sign up on the schedule. I need to have this all worked out ASAP.

Everyone is still required to make eight greats gift to sell in the gift Boutique. Turn those gifts into me as soon as you can.

I will also have your ticket packets at our Oct. 9th. Please try to sell, sell, sell! Last year we out sold every other committee in pre-sell tickets. I am still trying to think of an awesome prize for all of you (I won a super cute scarf but I didn’t see the purpose in cutting it up into 25 pieces for all of you!)

I am still asking for the $30.00 donation. That will be ten dollars each for three projects. I am hoping that I can delegate the three projects to some willing volunteers. Please let me know which project you would be willing to oversee. This will lift my stress level so much!
1. Sweet Shoppe-
We will again have “Barbs Goodies” make all our treats for us. They have become a favorite at festival. Many people look for the product now so they ask me to bring it before opening night. We are so grateful for Barbara Goode and her yummy treats! Debbie, can you head this up since you are my contact for her anyway?
2. Small Fry-
I think I got an easy one this year. It’s just a candy bar wrapped up as a snowman. They should be quick to do. You never know until you start, though. Please let me know if you are willing to go and purchase all the items and get it ready for us to make them on the 9th.
3. Committee Project-
I want to keep it simple so I was thinking of donating a quilt to our new quilt block department. I know I have some great quilters on our committee. Is anyone interested in heading this project up. I have lots of African fabric so this could be our theme, if you wanted. However if you have another idea for a quilt or an entirely different idea, please let me know. If we do a quilt you will need to fill out the registration forms and get those in.
Thanks, for all you r help and support! I hope you all know how much a absolutely cherish you!
Love ya, Aimee

Paul Cardall

For those of you who have followed his story, you know what he has gone through and how much he loves PCMC. He has agreed to be our opening night performer! He also has agreed to do a special concert for us. This will be Sept. 9th so mark it on your calenders and bring your hubbies!. This will be our FOT kick off! We used to do it every year but canceled it for reasons. One of those being attendence dropping. So please plan on coming. If we get a good turn out we may bring it back permently. It will be a great night!

See his story here!

A Christmas Story

This ended up being a great way to finish up. This family had a sick little baby who had spent most of his life in PCMC. The mother was young and sweet. She let us interview her and film her sweet baby. Thank you to all who did not want to be on film but did anyway. I have the greatest friends in the world. You all made me cry. And lets not forget our awesome truck driver Alvin!
